Never Miss Kick-off: Programme Reminders in B Player

There's nothing worse than switching on just after the big moment. Programme reminders in B Player help you avoid that. Set one in the TV Guide and the app lets you know just before the programme starts – with a button that takes you straight to it.
Quick answer
- Open the TV Guide.
- Move to a programme that hasn't started yet and press OK.
- Choose Remind me.
A clock icon marks the programme. 2 minutes before it starts, you get a notification with Watch now. See and delete your reminders in My List → Reminders.
How to set a reminder
Reminders are set from the TV Guide, where you can see each programme and its start time.
- Press Up on your remote to reach the top bar.
- Select TV Guide and press OK.
- Use Up and Down to find the channel.
- Use Right to move to the programme you want – it must be one that hasn't started yet.
- Press OK. A menu opens: Remind me · Record · Watch channel · Close.
- Choose Remind me.
A clock icon now appears on that programme in the guide, so you can see at a glance what you've set.
Tip: if your remote has a Guide button or coloured buttons, you can set one to open the TV Guide. Go to Settings → Remote buttons and choose TV Guide.
What happens when it's nearly time
2 minutes before the programme starts:
- You get a notification with a Watch now button.
- If B Player is open, a popup appears on screen as well.
Select Watch now and B Player takes you to the programme. Two minutes is usually just enough time to grab a drink and sit down.
Reminders survive a restart
Turned your TV off? Restarted your device? No problem – reminders survive a restart, so they're still there when you need them.
How to see and delete reminders
All your reminders are kept in one place.
- Select My List in the top bar.
- Open the Reminders tab.
- You'll see a list of every reminder you've set.
- To remove one you no longer need, select it and delete it.
My List also has other handy tabs: Saved, Groups, History, Recordings and Messages.
Reminder or recording?
Both are set the same way from the TV Guide, but they do different jobs.
- Remind me – best when you plan to watch live. You get a Watch now notification 2 minutes before.
- Record – best when you won't be around. The recording starts 1 minute early, ends 2 minutes late, and is saved on your device. Find it in My List → Recordings.
Keep in mind that a recording uses one of your plan's screens. On a 1-screen plan you can't watch another channel and record at the same time. A reminder is just a notification, so it doesn't record anything.
Missed it anyway? If the channel has an archive, you can go back in the TV Guide to the finished programme and press OK to watch it with catch-up.
Make game day easier
A few small settings can make a big night run smoothly:
- Add the channel to Favourites. In Live TV, hold OK on the channel and choose Favourites or one of your groups.
- Start where you want. In Settings → Start-up, you can open B Player on Home, the last channel you watched, or a chosen channel.
- Check your connection. For HD we recommend at least 15 Mbps, and 25 Mbps for the best quality. Wired Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi works best.
- Check your plan. If your plan is ending soon, a banner near the top shows a Renew button. You can also check days left in Settings → Account, or visit /renew.
If you don't get the notification
- Check the reminder is listed in My List → Reminders.
- Make sure it was set on a programme that hadn't started yet.
- Check the programme times look right in the TV Guide.
- Still not working? Message support with the device code shown in Settings → Account.
Summary
Press OK on a future programme in the TV Guide and choose Remind me. A clock icon marks it, and 2 minutes before the start you'll get a Watch now notification. Manage everything in My List → Reminders. Don't have B Player yet? Install B Player.
