Favourite Channels and Custom Groups in B Player

Scrolling through a long channel list every evening gets old fast. B Player lets you keep the channels you actually watch in Favourites and in custom groups you name yourself, such as "News", "Kids" or "Weekend". This guide shows how to create them, organise them and find them again.

Quick answer

  • In Live TV, highlight a channel and hold OK. The "Add to group" dialog opens.
  • Choose Favourites, one of your groups, or "New group…" to make a new one.
  • Your Favourites and groups appear at the top of the category list on the left of Live TV.
  • Use the "Edit groups" button above the category list to rename, reorder or delete groups, and to move or remove channels.
  • You'll also find your groups in My List → Groups.

Where Favourites and groups appear

Open Live TV from the top bar. The categories are listed on the left in this order:

  1. Favourites
  2. Your groups
  3. Recently watched
  4. All
  5. Your provider's own categories

Because Favourites and your groups sit at the top, the channels you care about are always the first thing you see.

Add a channel to Favourites

  1. Open Live TV.
  2. Move to the channel you want with the arrow buttons.
  3. Hold OK on the channel (press and keep it pressed) until the "Add to group" dialog opens.
  4. Choose Favourites.

That's it. The channel now appears under Favourites in the category list.

Create a new group

Groups are like extra favourites lists that you name yourself.

  1. In Live TV, highlight a channel you want in the new group.
  2. Hold OK to open "Add to group".
  3. Choose "New group…".
  4. Type a name for the group.
  5. The channel is added, and the new group appears in the category list under Favourites.

To add more channels, hold OK on each one and pick your group from the list.

Organise with Edit groups

Over time, you'll probably want to tidy up. Use the "Edit groups" button above the category list in Live TV. There you can:

  • Rename a group.
  • Reorder groups so the one you use most is at the top.
  • Delete a group you no longer need.
  • Move channels up or down inside a group so they appear in the order you like.
  • Remove channels from a group.

A simple way to start:

  1. Select Edit groups.
  2. Choose the group you want to change.
  3. Move or remove channels, or rename the group.
  4. Go back to Live TV to see your changes.

Your groups in My List

You don't have to open Live TV to reach your groups. Go to My List in the top bar and open the Groups tab. My List also has Saved, History, Recordings, Reminders and Messages tabs.

Favourites belong to your profile

Each B Player profile has its own favourites and groups. If you share the TV, everyone can build their own lists without changing anyone else's. Pick your profile on the "Who's watching?" screen, or switch from Settings → Account or your avatar, before you start adding channels.

Ideas for groups

  • Everyday: the handful of channels you check every day.
  • Kids: channels for the children, ready on their profile.
  • News or Sport: a group for each kind of channel.
  • Evening: what you like to watch after dinner.

Make Favourites even faster

If your remote has coloured or extra buttons, you can make one of them open Favourites directly:

  1. Open Settings → Remote buttons.
  2. Choose a button, for example the red, green, yellow or blue button.
  3. Set its action to Favourites.

You can also set Settings → Start-up to open on the last channel you watched or a chosen channel, so a favourite starts as soon as you open the app.

Tips

  • Can't see a channel you added? Check that you're on the right profile.
  • To change a channel's position, use Edit groups → move channels up/down.
  • Hidden a whole category by mistake? Go to Settings → Category preference and choose Show all.
