How to Use the B Player TV Guide

The TV Guide is the quickest way to see what is on, what is coming up, and what you might have missed. In B Player it is built for the remote, so everything works with the arrow keys and the OK button. This guide walks you through it step by step.

Quick answer

Open TV Guide from the top bar. You will see a grid of channels and times. Move to any programme and press OK:

  • On now: it starts playing.
  • Coming up later: a menu opens with Remind me · Record · Watch channel · Close.
  • Already finished (on a channel with catch-up): it plays from the archive.

Opening the TV Guide

The top bar in B Player has these sections: Home, Live TV, TV Guide, Movies, Series and My List.

  1. Press Up on your remote until you reach the top bar.
  2. Move to TV Guide and press OK.
  3. The guide opens as a grid: channels down the side, times across the top.

If your remote has a Guide button or coloured buttons, you can set one of them to open the TV Guide straight away. Go to Settings → Remote buttons and choose TV Guide as the action for the button you want.

Reading the grid: now and next

Each row is a channel. Each block along the row is a programme. The block under the current time is what is on now, and the one after it is what is on next.

  1. Use Up and Down to move between channels.
  2. Use Left and Right to move between programmes on the same channel.
  3. Keep pressing Right to look further ahead at later programmes.

This makes it easy to plan your evening or check when a show starts, without leaving the guide.

What happens when you press OK

What OK does depends on when the programme is on.

A programme on now

Press OK and B Player starts playing that channel so you can watch it right away.

A programme coming up later

Press OK and a small menu opens with four choices:

  1. Remind me – get a notification 2 minutes before it starts, with a Watch now button. A clock icon marks the programme in the guide.
  2. Record – schedule a recording. It starts 1 minute early and ends 2 minutes late, so you don't miss the start or the end.
  3. Watch channel – jump to that channel now and see what is playing.
  4. Close – go back to the guide.

You can see and manage everything you have set up in My List: reminders under Reminders, recordings under Recordings.

A programme that has already finished

Some channels keep an archive of past programmes (this is called catch-up). On those channels, move back to a programme that has already aired and press OK to watch it from the archive. On channels without an archive, past programmes cannot be played.

Tips for getting more from the guide

  • Recordings use a screen. A recording uses one of your plan's screens (connections). On a 1-screen plan you can't watch another channel and record at the same time.
  • Android 12 or newer: if Android asks, allow "Alarms & reminders" for B Player so scheduled recordings start on time.
  • Start where you like: in Settings → Start-up you can choose to open B Player on Home, the last channel you watched, or a chosen channel.
  • Profiles: each profile has its own favourites, history and groups, so everyone in the home gets their own setup.

Using your own guide link (optional)

Most people never need this, but if you have your own XMLTV guide link you can add it:

  1. Go to Settings → TV guide source.
  2. Paste your guide link.
  3. If the times look off, set a time offset (from −12 to +12 hours).
  4. Choose Load now. To go back, choose Remove.

If the guide or channels don't load

  1. Close B Player and open it again – it re-checks your line.
  2. Go to Settings → Reload content to download the channel and movie lists again.
  3. Still not working? Message support with the code shown on your screen.

Summary

The TV Guide shows what is on now, what is next and what is coming later. One press of OK lets you watch, set a reminder, schedule a recording, or catch up on a past programme where the channel has an archive. Not using B Player yet?
